Hi I am new to this site, but it sure seems like a great place! I have recently bought a used 83 Bronco. I have had it for about 5 months, but then last month I started having trouble with the battery. I could drive around all day, but as soon as I turned it off and if I left the doors open or anything for any amount of time the battery would be dead. It would start after being jump started. I would go home and charge up my battery and it would work for awhile but after a few days the battery would be dead. It finally got to the point where it couldn't even be jumped. I got push started (manual tranny) and parked it. Now it won't start no matter what I do. First I tried a different battery and that didn't work. Then I got a new alternator. No help. Installed a new starter, solenoid, and battery cables. It will not turn over. I can start with a fully charged battery and all the lights and buzzers work, but as soon as I turn the key I hear a few clicks from the solenoid and then nothing. Then the battery is completely dead and the lights won't even work. Anyone have any ideas? Your help would be appreciated! Thanks!
The battery isn't dead after a few clicks - it just isn't connected to the truck any more. Clean & tighten all the terminals for the heavy-gauge wires, especially the ground to the frame & to the starter, and both battery wire terminals.
