I have a 93 F-150 and one of the tailgate cables has slack in it.Is it possible to tighten it up so the weight is not all on one cable?

I recently replaced the tailgate on my 89 4x4 and the cables are in fact adjustable --- on one end they have a elongated "O" type channel the can slide under the bolt affixing the cable to the body.

Replace in pairs and you won't have that problem. The older one is stretched.
