tailgate cables?

where do i get new cables for the tailgates on these trucks? mine are stretched terribly, and the tailgate just smashes into the bumper whenever i open it.

I have the HELP section ones on mine right now. They do not work as well and dud nit hold up as well as the original ones. They are a few years old and already coming apart. I'm currently looking for the best deal on Ford ones.

I picked up a couple good original ones at the junkyard. Or just go to Autozone.

Apparently Ford lists them as L and R specific. The parts store is one size fits both.

So far I haven't had any problems, but I haven't been abusing them either. Unless you call my 245 pound fat **** on it abusing them. The one draw back is they seem stiffer than the stock ones.

The generic ones are stiffer and they often stick out between the gate and tail light after closing it.

As I said before they don't last. The coating doesn't hold up.

Another problem I had was the release tab being too long.

I like the idea of stainless ones.

What about getting old-school linkage instead of cables?
