I posted this question also in the Body section of this website. But you guys seems to know all about my vintage of truck.

Is there a way to adjust slack out of one support cable for the tailgate of my 92 F150 Styleside? I loosened the bolts at both ends of the cable and there doesnt seem to be a sliding adjustment slot that would permit tightening the support cable. Brand new tailgate--original Ford part. And it isnt bent nor bowed. But the cables are original and the original tailgate did get severely bowed when several bales of hay fell on the original tailgate.

Can the taiilgate cables be adjusted and the slack on one cable be removed??

 

I dont think they are....You can get new ones from your local auto parts store.....
