the "alt" light stayed on today, and the engine seemed to be running a little rough. The engine thing might have been me being paranoid, but the light is definitely on.
I am going to stop by autozone on the way home to have them check the battery and alternator. The battery is 5 years old, and the alternator...who knows. I've never changed it.
I took it to autozone and they checked the battery (good) and the alternator. He said the alternator was not generating enough power...so for 45 dollars, I bought the replacement. I put it in tonight, and the light is still on.
What else could it be? Voltage regulator? (I tapped on it garbz)
Clean up all the connections before replacing parts that are just fine. If the alt is charging like it should then pull the volt reg and remove the cover. Reinstall and watch it to see if the unit is sticking open. The points should open and close as the charge is needed.
They can't get enough! I only have one lap belt, on the driver's side, so I always tell them they have to buckle up with me!!
Ha! I had a good laugh there Mate....that's one of the most original lines
