Well I'm back from a long deployment and need to pick someones brain. I have a 63 Styleside with what I believe is a 302 and a C6 transmission just not sure the specs of the motor. The numbers on the block read EOAE D3C and a 19 turned sideways also the is 3H261 on the block also. Anyone with a idea of what this really is any help would be great. Thanks
Your best hope is for Number Dummy to see this post and give you the straight scoop. While waiting for him, I might be able to provide some info by extrapolating it from the Steve Christ book, How to Rebuild Big-Block Ford Engines. I realize the 302 you think you have is not a big block; but as far as I know, casting numbers are similar. EOAE should indicate a 1980 or later casting - which has nothing to do with final machining. 3H261 should pinpoint the production date of the engine as 1983 August 26. Sadly, I don't know what the D3C means or the sideways 19. There is a small block engine forum down a few lines in the forum section. Try asking your question there and maybe someone will know. Good luck.
E0AE-D3C = 1980 block casting number. Since casting numbers are foundry marks, they cannot be cross referrenced to Ford part numbers. My guess is, it's a 302 or possibly a 351W.
3H2 = Block cast the second week (2) of August (H) 1983 (3) / 61 is the code for the foundry that did the casting.
