Where if anywhere could I get an alloy block that would make the basis of an all alloy 351C (with 3V alloy heads)? Or would I have to get a 351 Winsor alloy block and make a all alloy clevor? I am aware of there being alloy blocks out there for pushrod ford v8's but I'm not sure what ones
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Oct-02 AT 11:39 AM (EST)]"ford racing" has alloy 302 & 351W blocks, and they have 9.2 deck blocks - i don't know if they have an alloy 9.2 deck block though. i guess it wouldn't matter, unless you wanted to use a "regular" 351C intake with an external water return. you could also make an all-alloy 454cid monster with a 9.5 deck alloy block, and yates heads... but you'd need a lot of money to do it... if i ever win the lottery, the local bow-tie boys better watch out!
You say 'no one makes an alloy block in the states anymore'? Did they make one once? If so I might be able to find one second-hand. Plus I'm in Australia, and we are lucky to have more cleveland gear here than in the US. Any help in locating an alloy block would be appreciated,
With the Fontana 351c block, what clevo parts would fit? Would say a normal set of 351C rods, pistons and crank work? What about the timing chain, cam, lifters, rods, and heads? Would a 351C eldebrock torker intake work or would it need spacers?
The 351 C kicks **** but an ALL ALLOY!! 351 C would be unreal!!
ok on the fmx block, the other day i head out to the boneyard and the manager stops me and asks if im still looking for "some of that cleveland type junk engines". I laugh a bit and say sure am. he give me the phone number of a guy who has some really odd ford blocks, seems he cant use them cause none of his intakes match up. so i just might get 2 fmx blocks and then some "other useless old ford parts no one wants". he said if i just haul this stuff off thats payment enough.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Hope it works.

This is a '73 400 block that featured small block/cleveland and 351M,400,429,460 transmission bolt pattern. It also had small block and 351M/400 motor mounts. It's the best block for a no hassle 351C to 400 swap.
I believe the casting number is D3AE-B. They only came in vehicles that used an FMX trans. (be aware that FMX transmissions were built with both big and small patterns)
I doubt you will see them in trucks.
