the passenger side window switch went bad on my 04 Scab, window goes down slow sometimes. i was wondering if anyone has seen an express window switch for the passenger side or even a dual express window switch for the driver's side. and i was also wondering if the driver's gang switch was one piece or seperable like the older trucks... thanks
I have a 2007 XLT and the driver side window switch was replaced last year. It was a gang unit and I paid $45 for it. However there was a detail post to show how to clean the contacts of the unit. You may be interested to that if you are a handy person.
You can take the switch assembly out and disassemble it to get to the contacts... Most likely, they're pitted and burned. The whole switch assembly is snapped together. Just take a needle file and clean the switch contacts until smooth.
Definitely not worth paying for a new unit since it's just another 15min extra 'work' to open up the switch assembly and file clean the contacts them after you've removed the whole thing. Worst case, you can file clean the worn-out contact and then swap it with one of the contacts of a rear window that's rarely used.
I fixed my driver side window switch a while ago, and it still works flawlessly.
I just fixed mine, yesterday. It was easy. You can tell the contacts that get used most by the amount of charring where the electricity is applied. I took a needle file and some rubbing alcohol to them Good as new, now.
I cleaned my driver's door contacts about 3 months ago due to intermittent functionality of the driver and passenger front doors.
About 3 weeks later they began acting up again. I again attempting to clean the contacts but to no avail.
Went to the local dealership and talked the parts manager down to $54 for the entire driver's module. Plugged in and haven't had any issues since.
