Thanks Sulli, I will go try to check now. Hoping to find some info before I depart. Am contracted to instruct a firearms course so not showing up isn't an option. I guess if all else fails....I'll begin the treck and if something happens, I will have AAA tow it to a dealer in WV and have them make whatever repairs are needed. But I HOPE it doesn't come to that. Can't thank you guys enough for the insight and assistance/information.

If you want to change the EGR cooler out (or delete it) and change the oil cooler (which was likely to be the original problem), I can email you some helpful material. PM me w/ an email address if you are interested.

White Smoke Solved

Well, After changing Oil and filter, No coolant in oil. I took it to dealer for evaluation/ service/ I was under time crunch and was headed out of town. $2917 later.....they had to replace the EGR cooler and the EGR valve. I asked them to bypass the EGR cooler. They wouldn't do it. I got frustrated and asked if it was the head bolts, they would replace with APC studs, so why not bypass the problematic cooler. I guess time will tell if it was a long term fix, Thanks to all who gave input and assistance. Any Diesel techs here who could shed light on why they wouldn't bypass the known problematic EGR cooler? Is the replacement better engineered than the original?

the dealer would lose there license if they got caught deleating the egr system it Federaly required

You need to put on the BPD egr cooler this one is next to bulletproof

there was some talk a few weeks ago about maybe ford upgraded the egr cooler

hope there changiing the oil cooler to thats usualy the cause of the egr cooler failure

For sure !

4mrBowTie - I think I failed to send you the cooler info. Instead I think I sent you the "General" spreadsheets. At least this is what I recall sending you - in my defense, I send a lot of people info.

Sorry to be late in replying.

BTW - the 6.0L will not put coolant into the oil w/ head gasket or EGR cooler issues.

White Smoke Help!!!

Blade and Bismic,

Thanks to you both. Got the truck back. They said Head Gaskets were good. As for Oil Cooler, I haven't been able to talk with Tech yet. Asked the service Rep to have Tech call me. had some general questions for him as far as what can help keep this from happening again. I run Diesel Kleen every 3rd tank of fuel, run Only BP 47 Cetane fuel etc. I will type everything the service sheet says they did.
"Verified concern degas bottle empty pressure test cooling system. Cap and bottle OK. EGR cooler fails. Replaced EGR cooler. Install Oil Cooler service kit and EGR valve. Changed oil and filter. Flush and refill cooling system and road test. Retest to monitor head gaskets. All okay"

Bismic, no worries on data sheets you sent. If you get the chance, please send EGR cooler bypass info if you have it and can remember. I will bypass the first chance I get.

The oil cooler service kit is an oil cooler "core". It is fine to fix it this way.

I really don't have much on EGR deletes. The spreadsheet on MODS should have some links for you. I am not much into the EGR delete. I am OK w/ keeping mine (bulletproof one).
