I get a little bit upon the first start up in the morning. Usually below 40 degrees when it smokes, clears up after 20 seconds or so. People have told me it's normal.
On my truck, when I first start the truck in the morning, I go back to the garage to gather up my stuff, and light a cigarette. I've noticed that I make more smoke with a cigarette than my truck does at 35°.
Is that how much smoke you're talking about?
I turn the key to mine for ten seconds, GP light stays on, I turn it off, wait ten seconds, try it again, when the GP light goes out she fires up with a puff of white smoke. Only when it's below 35 degrees. I hope that's okay...
I think a small amount of smoke on cold startup is normal. It's when you have extended cranking times, rough idle or the smoke increases significantly that the glow plugs or glow plug relay should be checked/repaired.
