2004 5.4 SCAB

My neighbor has a 2004 5.4 SCAB. He has 90,000 miles on it and says he blew the motor. He said he dropped a valve, and that this motor is unique to only 2004. No other motor would fit. Is this correct?

What is unique about it only to 2004?

Doesn't sound right to me. Any 5.4L 3V motor should mate up to his truck and tranny.

Maybe he's just itching for a new truck and this is his excuse?

I think, that if it's an early '04 it doesn't have the 3 valve 5.4. That may be what he's talking about.

It would have to be the '04 Heritage model to have the 5.4L 2 valve. The late '03 carry overs, previous body style.
