I have been reading alot about people with th 5.4 and a delay in the throttle response but was wondering if anyone with the 4.6 has experienced this and what did they do about it(computer reflash, ets). I have a 2004 SCAB with the 4.6 , 2500 mi and used to have a 97 SCAB with the 4.6. The 97 seemed to have much better low end throttle response than the 2004 drive by wire 4.6.
I feel it in my 2004 4.6 Reg Cab. I've got an appointment for next Friday to see if I can get it flashed. Many have said the flash doesn't help that much but others have said it does. Apparently it changes the shift points also, which I'm looking forward to.
My dealer would not reflash for the thottle response issue because they said it was normal?????? But they did for the AC not being cool enough and the latest flash took out a lot of the lag that I was expieriencing on my truck.
i want to get mine reflashed also. what could i bring up to get the reflash done?
My 97 5.4 would run circles around this 04 5.4 The new one almost got me in trouble trying to get across an intersection with out getting t-boned from an oncoming car.

This is the problem I feel with my 4.6. Throttle response is fine unless you have to floor it in an emergency, and it takes a second or two for it to respond. In a situation like that, it sure feels a lot longer than a couple seconds!
I have the 4.6 STX regular cab with the same problem. I am going to call this week to see if I can get my computer reflashed. I'll post the outcome once it's completed.
