If you are referring to Sanderson, their headers are for the 4V heads but can be used with 2V heads with their adapter plate. The plate isn't needed with Aussie heads. I have a 400 in a '73 LTD that should be the same chassis as a '77 Ranchero. I'll try to eyeball the FC3s to see if there are any interference issues. Remind me if I forget.
i looked at some headers that were like 100 $ that were shorties. shorties would be an easy isntall right? i am having all new exhaust pipe done so couldnt i jsut have my exhaust guy run the pipe all the way into the compart ment and what problems might i face. i know heat is one but that should nt be bad on a ranchero that has a really large engine compartment
If ..you can afford them , the sanderson ...ceramic coated headers are the best, short tube headers that you can order thru the mail. One of the first things the instructions from Sandersons will instruct you to do is Get your engine in good running order BEFORE installing your headers...Because(especially with New engines) the Exhaust temperatures are significantly higher during the tuneup process than they are after you get everything running correctly.During the tuneup you should utilize your old exhaust manifolds and THEN install your headers . The higher temp's are very hard on the ceramic coating on the headers. fd
i cant really afford any 300+ headers if i could i would get the ones from hooker but will universal headers that most companies sell in shorties or block huggers work in a ranchero and will the different deck height from a 351 and a m block make any difference?
HOK-6921 or how about these theyre not shorties but the body style didnt change from 73 to 77 right but the deck height would be different would that matter?
You can't use headers for a 302-351W, the exhaust flange is completely different. There's a guy on the Cleveland forum who's running dynomax headers on an LTD. I'll try to get a part number.
Trans filler tube and some hammering on the bell housing. Go to the 351C forum, there's no need for me to keep relaying the info. A guy named Bill had some other input also. http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/119419
