Additive Question - Top Shot?

Hey All,

So a buddy of mine came up to me and was trying to get me to use a new additive program he found. It is called "Top Shot" oil and fuel additive. It is a two part system. You add the additive to your fuel for three straight tanks and then add a different additive to your oil at the same time (requires and oil change). Anyways, apparently this stuff was specially designed for the 7.3s - 6.4s to help clean their injectors, etc. He told me it was developed with international.

So anyways, I did some searching and I can't find anything on it. I was wondering if anyone here has heard of it. I found something called hot shot, but it is different stuff.

The good side of it, I have another buddy who put the stuff in his 6.0 with 250k and got 5.5 miles more per gallon in mleage and his truck is running amazing now (had rough idle and several other little issues (sticking vanes in the turbo, etc.). I can't speak to the mileage increase, but I have ridden in his truck and he had a bad miss at idle that is now completly gone and his truck definiately has more power.

I am hoping someone here has heard of it as I would like to get some feedback before I spend the $75 and put some weird additive in my truck.

Thoughts?

I never heard of it. I guess he poured some on the vanes of his turbo? That would be the only way to get it in there.

I believe it was "developed" originally for the 6.0 if memory serves me correctly. I would not recommend any additive in the oil. That is what fires your injectors. I am not willing to risk what it "may" do to them. Just my .02

+2 on that plus the price seems a bit steep for an additive.

What you're describing is called Hot Shot Secret. The fuel additive isn't the main part, it's the oil additive. As mentioned, it was designed primarily around the 6.0 to deal with stiction issues in those injectors. They used to (and maybe still do) offer a money back guarantee on the product.

I've seen a few good reviews with it in the 7.3 and I've seen a few where it seemed to make no difference at all. I know Jeremy tried it and had great difficutly getting his money back. I don't remember if he did. I remember he wrote it off as lesson learned and the guy from HSS (used to be and possibly still is? a sponsor) showed up in a thread and kept saying he would get the refund done. Seems like it may have happened, but don't know for sure.

Do a search for Hot Shot Secret and do some reading.

Hot Shot's Secret was develped to fix this problem. It needs to be added to the oil. It cleans out the oil side of the injector, the turbo bearing, and the rings. It will make the truck run smoother and quieter. We do offer a money back guarantee. We have never denied anyone their money back. I have no idea what happened with Jeremy but anytime anyone calls in or sends in a copy of their receipt we send them a check.
We try to help people resolve their issues, not just push product. I don't want anybody to waste money on anything let alone one of my products.

If you want to clean out the fuel side of your system try FP Diesel Extreme. It's not very expensive and it does a great job. What sets it apart from the other additive you might have tried is that it has more detergent in it. It also has lubricity, cetane, rust and oxidation inhibitors and moisture dispursant. The main thing you want to do is clean out the system from both sides. The 6.0 is hard on engine oil and has a tendancy to oxidize the oil. You need to get that oxidized carbon out. The HSS will do that safely and effectively.

I forgot to mention Hot Shot's Secret is on sale for Memorial Day. go to the website www.hotshotssecret.com. We have a buy one get one at half price deal. We don't offer specials very often because the chemicals we buy are expensive and it's just hard to run discounts. But we wanted a Memorial Day Special so we bit the bullet and did it.
