Dropped pan and changed filter. Filter didn't look too bad and pan was verry clean. Is there another trans cooler from another year bigger than the factory one between the intercooler and AC coil? Need a new one anyway, and mabe a trans too!

I talked to a guy that owns a transmission shop and he told me for a couple of years ford used a grey colored seal for a pump seal and he has seen many with 100,000 miles or more do the exact same thing. The seal gets hard and will only leak when it gets warm. He thinks if I put a new seal in all will be good! He says he has run into at least a half dozen with the same problem. Hope he is correct, a $20 seal is better than a $2000 transmission!

Good luck man! That seems like it would be on the right track to me. I've seen tranny temps of 200* or so before and never had a leak. (I have my own cooling problems, I don't think that should be normal.....) 140* is way to low to be called 'overheating' in my opinion.

Like said that seems very possible-Also may need to replace bypass if you suspect it is still sticking. The hotter the ambient temp the hotter you trans temps will run also. Usually 60-70 degrees above ambient temps. Good Luck

I have driven my truck every day after changing fluid and filter. I have an 11x11 and a 11x7 trans cooler connected now, and at this point the trans has not even sweat a drop of fluid! My trans has not gotten above 150 mabe 155. We have only had a few high 80* days, no 90* days and no towing yet! I'm hoping for the best!
