I went out this morning to start my 1986 F-250 4x4 460 I turned the key it tried to fire once then just cranked so I turned the key off and it kept cranking even when i took the key out of the ignition. Now the solinoid was bought brand new last summer. I tapped the starter with a hammer thinking maybe it was stuck kept doing it.Could it be the ignition switch? The only way i got it to stop was by unhooking the battery cable. Does anyone have any ideas before I take the steering wheel off and replace the ignition switch? Any ideas are welcome and thanks ahead of time for your help.
Thank You so much for the quick reply! The solenoid was the problem.I forgot to mention I pulled the wire in your diagram and it kept cranking. so all I had to do was put my spare on and BAM good as new. Again THANK YOU! I dont know what I would do without this forum. Well i do know what I would do and I would be spending and wasting alot of money I dont have. Not to mention the time and work! Kudos where Kudos are due! This Buds for You!
Now I'm ready for a week camping and fishing at twin lakes up in Leadville Co
