Steering Wheel Interchangeability-help!

I'm trying to replace the steering wheel in my 2001 Ford EX. I'm looking for a wood grain leather combination and have seen several on e-bay for F150, F250, F350 etc.

However, when I search the compatibility of these steering wheels for the Excursion, it says the steering wheel is not compatible with the Excursion. I thought the F250 was the same platform as the EX????

Anyhow, does any one out there know how to tell when a Ford Truck steering wheel will fit the Excursion? Or, does anyone know where I can get a reasobably priced, woodgrain/leather steering wheel. My interior trim code is medium parchment (tan).

Do a search on here for "steering wheel swap" and you should see some threads about what has been done. The I think 02 wooden navigator wheel is a swap that is popular.

The f series wheel up to 04 should also fit the X

Thanks for the quick reply; I'll take a look and see what I can find. I thought the F series would work & am not sure why the ebay sellers interchange said it wouldn't.

thanks for the quick reply. What year Navigator wheel did you put in? Did you have to rewire the wheel for the other controls. My EX only has cruise control on the steering wheel.

Do you have a pic?

I used a 2001 Navigator wheel on a 2002 EX. I already had the controls in my Wheel so it was/is a "Remove old, plug new and Play" operation for me.

No need to mess with the clock spring, wiring, etc so it was very easy for me once I had a puller for the Steering Wheel. You can not use the typical Steering wheel puller (no holes in SW for bolts) and must use a "jaw puller". I bought a three piece set on sale at Harbour Frieght for $13 so I have it to add to the tool box.
