Ok guys need some help Im ordering a 17 6.7 CC shortbed platinum or King Ranch. I have been eyeing them for a while but one thing I noticed on the new F150 when I was looking at them is that the platinum steering wheel is a black injection molded fake leather steering wheel not real leather. The king ranch is real leather. I have been trying to find a Platinum Super Duty on a lot to look at one but can't find one yet are they the same. Can some one please tell me conclusivly if the platinum steering wheel is real leather or not. I know its not really that important but I could not stand buying a 70K truck with a fake leather steering wheel. It would annoy me everytime I grab it.
Can't tel you if it's real leather or not, it is a leathery material with stiches on my platinum, very soft so far, had a few compliments on the steering wheel coming from guys with 14-16 platinums with the wood grain.
Let's hope soft doesn't mean faster wearing like the junk King Ranch wheels on the 2011. I've seen a whole bunch just deteriorate after about 2-3 years. I wanted the Platty to keep the half wood - half leather just for that reason. I'll see when mine gets here next month.
Platinum.....Just like you might call a Ski Nautique a Nauti...or a King Ranch a "KR"....just the hip lingo......Well...I'd better get back to "nighty"....cause it's late.....

Thanks for the explanation. ( I stopped with da da and mom ma around age 2 and only rarely have to hold my pee pee to tinkle. So to be cool, lets get back the the big truckees and their vroom vrooms and the houseys on the back!! Sorry I hate using kiddy words for kids, none the less adults.)
And the wood insert was not just for looks...it lasts a lot longer than the top of the leather wheel did.....just from "normal" driving. If you drive more than average, the leather just wore a lot faster. Mine turned to crumbling, sticky junk on my KR in the second year. On humid days, really sticky, orange coming off in crumbs. Now I did hear you could get it replaced under warranty, but I had passed the 36K when it started to go really bad. Truck is gone now...totaled...but my dad's 2011 King Ranch with the same wheel is in terrible shape also. Trading it next month on his '17.
