Will a new F250 Steering Wheel fit a 2005 EX?

The leather on my steering wheel is showing a lot of wear so I will be needing a new one soon. I was curious if the new F250 steering wheels would fit a 2005 EX? I like the style of 2009, 2010 & 2011 much better that the stock wheel in 2005.

Thanks!

I have no idea on how they bolt up, but you would loose any steering wheel controls you currently have and would have to get the airbag that fits the new wheel. I am sure that will be very pricey.

Have you looked at just replacing the leather with a wheelskinz of replacement wheel off ebay?

Sorry, but no the 08+ steering wheel has a totally different spline type.

Some folks have added the Navigator wheel to their X's and they looks sharp. The 04-08 F150 steering wheel shares the same spline as the 99-07 Super duties (00-05 Excursions) and is a direct bolt on.

To run the 08+ you would have to upgrade the entire column as well as rewire a bunch of stuff. Definitely doable, just take a bit of trial and error.

That was wierd seeing pictures of my 06 F-150 and the steering wheel

but yeah, what he said about them not fitting

I'll be back in the USA this summer and I intend to do a column swap to put a 2008+ into the truck. I hate the 99-07 style

My steering wheel still looks like new. Because I keep it covered with a nice steering wheel cover (see in eBaY link below). From the inside, you can tell it's a steering wheel cover. But, from the outside it looks just as good as any wood steering wheel on any truck. It's been cheap insurance to keep my steering wheel like new.

to be perfectly honest, you wouldn't even need to weld.

just drill/ream out the center of the 08+ steering wheel so that it will fit over the 99-07 splined section for the steering column.

then drill a retaining pin hole and install a grade 8 3/16" or so bolt to retain the wheel to the column. it could be done with not alot of effort.

hmm....only issue I see would be getting my hands on a 08+ airbag as well

Not even all that, drill the hex hole out, throw the broach in the press and make the splines and instal wheel.

Both retaining pins and broach keyway are great ideas.... i had my 01's off or a clock spring replace and failed to look at it closely.... if that a steel sleeved spline? probly cast aluminum but man that would be nice if it was press fit... makes me wonder if you could find a female spline sleeve to match i might even be able to make it if i buy a rotary vice for my mill

sorry, no longer have the X. I ended up putting a 2001 Lincoln Navigator wheel on there instead since it's a direct bolt in.

the Navi's have wood grain and are just "nicer" than anything the X came with from factory. Plus it gave me a bunch of extra buttons that I was able to custom program to control my Pioneer headunit.

There is a thread around here somewhere with how I did it. Internet connection isn't that good at the moment or I'd link you to it

Steering wheel

Anyone know if the steering column for an 08+ will fit an 06 F350?
