was it carbed or TBI fuel injection/ i dont know much about mid era ford engines or post 96 era ford engines since i just dropped chevy when i got mine...
I agree with andym, It would be alot easier than swapping the truck over to a carb. intake, exhaust, and a couple sensors are alot easier that a new fuel system and completely rewiring it. kinda makes me wish i had pics of my capri's wiring, three years and im still working on it, its almost a new harness under the hood and dash, and it was just throttlebody! and to think its gonna get the multiport eventually... most peaople dont even finish, and the vehicles end up sitting for a few years before getting sold.
the only (extrenal) differences you will find between the two years is that your head doesn't have as many bolt holes for the manifolds, and the holes for the mechanical fuel pump. everything else can be swapped over.
if you decide that you have to have the carb, more power to you. but my experience in doing so hasn't been a great one.
ok heres the deal though, i would like to do efi, but if i do go to efi, i need a new cam (this motor has a non-stock one) and the computer would have to be re-tunded too because its got an overbore and port jobs on the head, so im thinking it will be easier to go to carb'd
Hey man, do you think you could do me a favor? Could you snap a picture of the 4x4 decal near the taillights? Like an up close picture. I haven't been able to find this decal, only the one for the 92-96 style truck, so I'm thinking of having one made up. I'd appreciate it if you can, but no big deal if you can't.
Alright guys quick question... will my stock coil (made to run with a computer) and pigtail work with the new carbed motor and no computer? Im fine with replacing it just don't know if its necessary its only about a month old anyway so its still pretty good
^^^so can anybody answer this question?^^^
i asked it once before already but it started a discussion of carb vs efi so the question never got answered
yes it will. the newer E-core style coil is even a little more powerful, i have used them on a couple of vehicles with carbs and they worked great.
and as far as the cam goes if its not much bigger, your computer could compensate for it, and with a mass air conversion, it wouldn't be a problem at all. i know that as far as 5.0's go there is a such thing as a "computer friendly" cam
alright well, time for an update, the truck kept getting worse and worse, it was undriveable, so i bought a car, i now own a 93 mazda 626 and the motor is getting pulled out of the truck this weekend, and in about a month i should have all the necessary parts for the new motor.
