2011 End Production Date? 2012 Production Date?
Hey everyone,
I'm just curious when does Ford normally ''end production'' of a model year to start production of the next?
I was planning to buy a 2011 F-150 in Auguest, but I don't want to wait that long and not be able to find the truck I want ''As a 2011 model'' and be forced to either buy a 2012 model to get what I want ''And possibly miss out on a better deal'' or settle for a 2011 that isn't quite configured the way I want it to be.
I was initally planning for Auguest becaues I could have an extra 1,000$ to put down on it. But after talking to a salesmen and doing a little bit of reserch, I've come to realize that the extra 1,000$ will only make about 10$ to 12$ difference in my monthly payment, which I've decided I can live with. So now I'm considering making my purchase in June.
But if anyone could anwser my question I' would appreciate it.

By asking a salesmen a question like that, you may as well pour blood in a shark tank.
That extra $1000 could pay for:
1. Gap insurance (total loss coverage).
2. A portion of an extended warranty / maintenance agreement
3. A hard cover for the bed
4. A tire upgrade
5. A whole bunch of gasoline.
The May incentives still suck. Historically the independence day sales are good.
I can't begin to imagine what else Ford could do to improve on these trucks other than little tweaks like a different fuel tank for the EB trucks, a grill to cover the inter-cooler, different paint options.
I'm giving my sales person major kudos right now. Originally I thought I would be ready about April of this year. I wasn't so I told him late summer. He hasn't called to nag me once.
Go get your truck, you deserve it!

I am mostly in the same boat. I want to order a 2011 FX4 6.5 Box with Ecoboost. I want the NAV and sunroof, but cant find one anywhere. First I wanted tuxedo black, but am now leaning toward sterling gray.
I just found out today, through another forum (sorry), that Ford may be kicking out orders with NAV due to shortages in supply. I called my dealer to confirm, but they had only heard that it "could" be an issue.
I can't order yet, due to pending sale on my house, and now wonder if I should just wait or if I will HAVE to wait. I wish we knew what the tweaks were for the 2012, I'm sure no major changes, but it would be nice to know.

Since historically (since the 1930's), new vehicles are introduced in September, production begins in August.
btw: If y'all are wondering why certain colors are is short supply, it's because their paint pigments come from Japan.
The earthquake/tsunami affected the plants this pigment comes from. One would assume that since automotive paint was invented in the US, someone would still be producing all the pigments here.

Go with the 2012 if at all possible, then you get all the improvements they learned throughout the previous model year especially on a first year vehicle from Ford. It's the third model year they start cutting costs like sound deadening, interior and exterior trim, and cool options. 2nd year of the model is always the best year. (Besides the very last year, where all the bugs are worked out and they throw in options and $$$ to sweaten the truck to be able to sell it......but then your truck is outdated immediately).
