first off, i want to thank everyone who keeps feeding me some great information and helping me out along the way with my slick.
i have a 1966 F100 and i am wanting to know what the difference is between the 66 and 67 headliner because i found one that i really like out of the LMC catalog but it is for a 67-72. will i be able to fit it in my 66 or am i just wasting my time wishing on it?
Headliners for 67's are as different as the outside of the trucks. I think I know the the headliner you want, I have thought about it too. It is much smaller than the 66 one. you would need to figure out a way to mount it to the 66 headliner, and had the 66 headliner strong enough to hold the weight, of the headliner, and the stereo. With out some fab work it will not work.
yep, you know exactly which one i'm after. the plastic one with the speakers in it, the one in the LMC catalog. that really sucks that it won't work and i currently don't even have a headliner in the truck right now, was hoping to spruce it up with a lil modern age idea's.
Even if you bought one for a different model you could probably use most of it and just add some hard board or 20 gauge metal to shape it and then add some foam and fabric and you have yourself a headliner.
I have thought of putting aluminum braces across the width of the cab that would line up with the screw holes in the 67-72 Stereo liner. Then put a PVC, or fiber reinforced panel headliner in and you can screw through it into the straps. If the aluminum is braced on both sides and on the center cab support it will hold. The rest is just making it look good.
I am gonna cover my standard style headliner with neoprene fabric like a wet suit or mouse pad. I did a bench for my IT business with Neoprene, and it came out great.
