I got a idea i want to do to my headliner today i saw on the internet on a older ford truck. http://groups.msn.com/Ford67-72F-Ser...to&PhotoID=154 I have a 96 F-250 xlt with a carpet headliner and i want to cover it with a flag. I want to do it where if i need to take it out theres no visible damage to the headliner. Does anyone know if the headliner is glued in, if it is then i can get one the right size and stick it under the panels that hold it up. If not i can get one thats to big and tuck it under the headliner. This is something i want to do and look very clean when done. Im just not 100% sure how to do but im figuring maybe someone has done something similar before. Any help wpuld be appriciated thanks.
My 88 headliner is not glued in. Just a piece of cardboard with some cloth glued to it. If you remove all the interior trim around it you should be able to take it right out. You might want to get your rear view mirror out of the way first. Also, if you have a bone yard near you I would suggest you try to find another head liner for your project and keep the original in case you decide to change back. You could probably pick one up for under $10.
Believe it or not, it's something you can make yourself. Find yourself a home center, drive around back, get yourself a nice huge cardboard box like for appliances (like a fridge, for example). Trim it so it's about 1" larger than the inside dimensions all around, then using a spray-glue stick the fabric or vinyl of your choosing onto that. If you're using a cottony cloth, you'd want to use a fabric glue. Fabric/craft stores sell this as well.
Once all dry, you slice in about an inch and a half diagonal, from each corner, then push it into the roof, then replace the trim, carefully cut out the holes for the dome lights and such, and you have yourself a homemade headliner.
nice that was so sweet frederic. Kinda like seedless watermelon, nothing from the ground is good enough.. Anybody notice that Frederic is the man. I mean geez he comes up with the sweetest ideas sometimes and we have nothing. Kudo's Frederic go eat watermelon...........lol.

How would you put the angles in the headliner that it came with if i made one.

I must have called 15-20 salvage yards lookin for a headliner today and not one of them had one.
Backwoods rednecks still puttin confederate flags up lol, and i hate to be rude to anyone on fte if they have confederate flags, but i think the south lost that war... well over 100 years ago lol.
wish i had some pics of my '73 F250, it already has a CONFEDERATE flag for a head liner. and i don't care when the war was lost... i'll always be a son of the south. born in alabama, raised in Texas.... but it looks good if you take ur time n do it right the first time. think of it as custom work, not some "yankee" 1 of 1000 piece. just kiddin, but best of luck to ya, go to a craft store and get some of the fabric glue - i learned that lesson the second time around.
Lead Foot, the Confederate flag is a symbol of the American South. It is NOT a symbol of the war between the States. It is as important in US history as all other flags in American history..... such as the original "Betsy Ross" version. I have not run into the "South will rise again" mentality in about 30 years, and I know a BUNCH of rednecks.
