AutoLamp Not Working
nothing seems to answer my question.....
My AutoLamp feature will not turn on my headlamps.
I have a 95 Explorer that I bought used 4 years ago and
the AutoLamp never worked. Just one of those things
I'd like to get working.
After reading all of the posts I found, I was able to determine
the following:
1) There are 3 light sensors. One under the mirror mounting
that can only be seen from outside (I believe this one works in
conjunction of the other 2 by determing the amount of light
outside). One light sensor on the mirror itself (this is definitely
for the AutoDim feature of the mirror) and the last sensor on the
back of the mirror seems to work the AutoLamp feature.
2) All of my sensors seem to be working because I never had
problems with the AutoDim feature and the AutoLamp "ON"
indicator light comes on when I cover the sensor in the back of
the mirror from sunset on. (If I cover that sensor during the
day, the "ON" light does NOT come on which leads me to believe
the sensor under the mirror mounting indicates that it's too
bright outside to turn the lights on.)
3) I do NOT have a "MODE" switch which some posts have
mentioned is needed to adjust their sensors. I believe my
sensors are fine.
So, with everything saying that it should work, it doesn't.
I really don't want to pay big $$$ for such a minor problem.
Any suggestions or help is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks.
