Good morning to all my FTE friends. Wishing you all a happy Memorial Day, please take a moment to honor and remember those who have fallen to give us the rights and freedoms that we enjoy.

Morning Steve, how you doing today?

 

Great, just got back from the sunrise memorial service and breakfast at the legion hall!

 

Nice. It sucks not being able to go to any of the local services today with my Dad, we usually go to one at Memorial Park, then out to breakfast.

 

We have the parade in an hour, then another memorial service at our war memorial park at the end of the parade.

 

Sounds like a great way to spend the day bud!

 

yup, then this afternoon, we'll go back over to the legion hall.

 

I'm glad I'm only staying until 4.

 

The service this morning it was pouring and thunder and lightening, then it stopped and the sun started rising for the service.

 

At least the weather cooperated. I wonder what kind of aircraft are going to be doing the fly-by's over the various services this morning. Last year it was a couple of F-15's that were flying around.

 

Not sure, we didn't rate for a fly-by!

 

They have several services around Omaha, so they schedule what ever aircraft that are available for fly-bys. They've had fighters, tankers, radar aircraft. Just depends on what the city can arrange.

 

I was never active service, but my dad was WWII and the legion is losing members, so they asked sons and daughters if they wanted to join, some of the younger guys come around, but it's mostly Vietnam, Korea, and WWII guys.
