You also have to factor in the property taxes to the town and the volume the store sells per week. Notice I said store not station, that's were the real money is made not on fuel. The station I typically go to is a big Citgo with 20 pumps it sells 9~12 trailer loads (8800 gal each) weekly now compare that to a small station that maybe gets two deliveries a week. The bigger store can spread out the cost of its taxes further and profit less per gallon and still make a buck. The small station just can't afford to make next to nothing on the fuel because the store just doesn't have the sales to make up for the cost of the fuel. The Citgo that I'm referring to above sells it's regular fuel at a loss-liter just to get you into the store. I was never privy to the actual numbers but let's just say the big store is losing 10 cents per gallon that would equal roughly a nine grand loss for a week but the store is profiting IIRC eight grand a day in sales or 56k a week. Definitely worth the 9k loss.

The company that owns that station is triple dipping at the same time. The company, General Equities, owns Food Bag a chain of over 40 stores also owns New Britain Candy which supplies the stores with candy, trinkets, and the cigarettes (as odd as that sounds). NB Candy is the largest cigarette wholesaler in the state. They also own Lincoln Oil, where I used to work, which can buy in bulk and deliver to all the stations. Not too shabby for a company that started with one man pumping gas when he was 13.

Good for him!
I was pumping gas at 14 but certainly don't have an empire to show for it.

Morning all, we are going out for breakfast to that Irish Diner in Middletown, then to Northeast Taxidermy to pick up a deer head.

So, that would be the exact opposite here, Rinaldis Citgo in Chesterfield has two pumps (pump for 4 vehicles at a time max) and the store can only hold maybe two customers at a time. While the store in Norwich has a Dunkin Donuts and a convienent store all in one with maybe 5 pumps (can pump 10 vehicles) plus the DD drive thru. Their price was higher. I think there is still some gouging going on.

Today I bought gas at 3.99/gal in Cobalt on route 66 at the Valero gas station.

We had a nice breakfast, I had the Dubliner omelet, my friend had a Belly Buster omelet and the wife had a Pesto omelet. Real good, didn't wait in line too long either.

Afternoon all.
I am getting a little sun.
It has warmed up nicely.
I am going for a bike ride with the scouts tomorrow up near Sleeping Giant park, on the Farmington Canal trail.

I trailered my friend's GT500 there (the white one), and it had an alignment done, a smaller SC pulley, and a tune.
