Does anyone have the MTX Thunderform Sub that fits in place of the factory one ? I just installed one in my truck, and it sounds great.. My only problem is that I am getting alot of panel vibration, and it is REALLY annoying. Before I start Dynamatting everything, I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem, and what kind of remedy they discovered. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks..............
I was looking into buying one of these myself. Did you get the enclosure with the speaker and amp? How does it sound? How did you wire it in? Do you have the stock radio? Let me know the details.
Dynamat will help but you will still have to keep the panels from vibrating against the metal. If its a stealth box you might have to bolt it down better to give it a more solid location. I would even dynamat where you have it bolted to so it will help keep the vibrations from the panels that are rattling. Dynamat is good stuff. If you have an air compressor or get the spray version its even better. If you plan on keep the truck for a long time than I would remove all plastic panels and spray the sound deadening stuff all around. A plus with the spray is on the doors. You can get the material on the outer skin of the door but its tricky because of the power window and lock mechanics. If you can wrap the componets with bags and spray the outer door skins and inner skin that will help alot. The rear panel are easy.
I got the enlosure without the amp, but I upgraded my whole system. I put Pioneer 6x8s in all the doors, A Pioneer deh-p9300 headunit, 6 disc changer, and the box w/a 200w fosgate amp in mono. Sounds great, I would reccomend the box to all. It is formed in one piece, no chance of any air leaks. It bolts right in where I had the factory sub, and they give you a new grille. If you have the factory "Mach" audio system, you must bypass the on-board amp when using a high-power head unit like I did. The factory amp is mounted behind the dash, below the radio, and is a real pain to get to. I found an aftermarket harness that plugged into the OEM connector, and bypassed it. Run the speaker wires from the radio right to the harness, and you are in business..............
theres a better and cheaper dynamat alternative called peel and seal avabile at most home improvement stores. might go under a few different names but if i can find the link ifrom another site ill post it...
