I have an mtx thunderform box in my 05 f150 screw cap. The cheap mtx came with it has blown and I need a replacement. What are some true good good quality shallow mounts? I have a monoblock mtx amp pushing the thuderform. Its rated at 300 rms at 2ohms. I'm thinking of going with something that 2 ohm stable and has dvc.
I have had good luck with the MB Quart stuff, I have put several of their shallow subs in lately. I am planning on using them in my van when get around to working on my own stuff instead of for someone else.
A 2 ohm DVC driver will give your amp either a 4 ohm or a 1 ohm load, that's bad. Look for either a 4 ohm DVC or a 2 ohm SVC, doesn't matter which.
As for which sub, just 'cos it fits doesn't mean it'll work right - just like you wouldn't look for any 16" tire for your truck, there's more to it than that. It needs to be matched to the enclosure or it'll sound like a$$.
Is it sealed or vented? What's the box volume? If you know the model sub that was in it you can sometimes reverse-engineer this stuff.
Elemental makes the SQ10 and there is another one by Pioneer as well. I also think CDT makes a shallow sub, but it will all come down to if you want more of an SQ sub or SPL.
