While I was replacing glow plugs and installing a 50 cent mod, I decided to peek inside my turbo. Wheel looked great, no dings, no warped fins, spun smoothly. But.....
I noticed a little oil sitting on the bottom of the intake. Is that normal or might I have a leaky seal? After initial startup my truck does puff some smoke and when I rev the motor, it puffs more. Once warm, it puffs no more. Except the black smoke when I have the chip on high and stomp on it.
Other than that, the truck spools fast and holds boost perfectly.
unless you have done the CCV mod, the oil residue is normal. That oil is the reason people do the CCV mod, the keep that oil out of the intercooler and keep it from soaking up in the IC boots causing them to deteriorate over time.
