Blew the motor in my 03 F250 Super duty. First indication of trouble was when my Edge Monitor warned of high EOT (260F). Checking the history it did get to 270 so I suspect I melted stuff. Then all hell broke loose. Long story short new motor. This happened on the way back to Canada from Arizona while pulling about 12,000 lbs. I am really monitoring my temps and after lurking here for a few days realize I still have a problem. While normal driving in mid 40F temps my coolant reads 190 but EOT gets to and stays about 218 to 222. Should I not have gotten a new oil cooler with the new motor? If so what would be causing these high EOTs?
I have found a wealth of useful info on this site and appreciate everyone's input. Will be upgrading my package to help maintain this site.
Your temp spread is way too high, does this replacement motor have a warranty? When you say normal driving, does that mean unloaded? if so the temp spread at 40 deg outside air should only be 4-8 difference between ECT and EOT.
