In the last 8 months I have had the EGR cooler replaced and a high pressure oil pump. Ford paid for the EGR but it was only 4 weeks out of warranty when the oil pump went! My question is can I look for these to go again in the future or have they updated the replacement parts? I did put a coolant filter on after the EGR work was done. The oil pump came from Ford. It is an 06 with just under 80000 miles.
did you do the bulletproof egr cooler? if not then yes you can expect that to fail again. the hpop is rare to go out on the 05 and up. so no i wouldnt expect that to go out and since ford did it im 99% sure they put the updated stc fitting in
The dealership did the EGR cooler so I would assume no on the bulletproof. A local garage did the oil pump but got the parts from the dealer. Would the upgrade part you are talking about come with it?
I would check with your Ford servicing department or relook at your invoice to see if they either replaced or rebuilt your oil cooler when they replaced the EGR cooler. It's standard practice to do this since the primary cause of EGR cooler failure is an oil cooler with restricted/plugged coolant passages. If they didn't, I would question them as to why since your new EGR cooler is bound to fail fairly quickly since they didn't correct the root cause of the problem, which is your oil cooler.
As far as the HPOP, pretty rare for one to go out on the 05 and up trucks. I wouldn't be too concerned about it happening again.
yes on the pump it will come with the updated part. i forgot about the oil cooler so i hope they replaced that as well. if it was me i would get the bulletproof egr cooler. i have seen them fail and the oil cooler be just fine. if you have warranty it wont void it from what i understand
