window defletors
window defletors
this is my first post so be kind please.i just got a 2001 f-150 super-cab 4 full doors.i would like to put window deflectors on all 4 windows, which is best the in channel are the tape on type,an which brand????????thank you for your time.
Well first Welcome to the site!
now, lets clarify what truck you have. If you have 4 full size doors, then you have a Super Crew Cab. If you have two full size doors and two half doors you have a Super cab. Im Going to assume you have The first one.
I would go to autozone and see what they have. I bought mine there, (only the fronts) and they have held up great. They are the kind that stick too the outside on the rubber that goes around the window, so they dont actually touch the paint. They work great and i love them. I had the in channel kind on a ranger and they moved the window just enough to increase road noise so i would recomend the ones i have now. Oh and they all mount about the same... pull the cover off of the sticky part, press on and bobs your uncle.
as to brands, i've only used what autozone carries, but they seem to be of good quality.

I had the stick on from AZ, P. side lasted probably7 years before it came off, I did have to use some silicone to fill a few small gaps that let water in on the curve. The drivers stayed on until I decided I didn't want it any more probably on for 9 years or so. As long as they are installed properly they should work fine.
While you are there I would get some alcohol and some adhesion promoter to ensure all oil, grit, grime, and the old rubber is removed completely before applying them. Also the ones on the front go under the edge of the black part of the mirror to ensure that the wind wont get under the vent shades and rip them off. Good luck.
If you get Ventshades, they come in a large cardboard blister pack.Complete with alcohol pads, and instructions.Just forewarned...be SURE you have them placed properly before you "stick them on"...once placed...well you know!

Forget the ones from AZ or AAP. Get Weathertech window deflectors. They may cost a little more but they are head and shoulders above the rest. Much better fit and they last longer. I've had the others and Weathertech. Never again will I buy anything but the Weathertechs.
