Build Sheets

I don't think I've ever posted this before, but here is what the Build sheet from Ford looks like and is Free, but can take forever to get. Pretty cool info.

This is what the Marti Report Looks like and it's the Deluxe Report which has a bit more info, but it's $40.00 and I got it in a couple days via email.

cool post ,I just think it would be neat to see who all owned the truck and where it has all been.just to get a real history, because the last one I bought had/still has .22 ,410 and 12 gauge shells under the seat ,in the glove box,in the ash tray .I mean thats pretty cool or scary

I had actually thought about that also. I've typed the VIN in a nationwide public record site and info was available, but for a $30 fee for a year I'd hate to spend that kind of money and end up getting hardly any info to be given. I didn't mind spending the $40 because at least I knew what I was getting.

It's amazing what you'll find in trucks.

Very cool I have been thinking of ordering the build sheet but I might spend the $40 for the detailed one. And I found at least half a dozen 12g shells throughout my truck too lol fits with the gun rack tho...

How do you go about attaining one of these build sheets from Ford?

Also, bucks77ford I just noticed your location and live in the same town. I actually think I have seen your truck driving down the street in front of my house over the summer.

This is where I started and contacted customer relations.
Contact Ford

Ya, I'm sure you've seen me around a time or two. I haven't been to any shows yet in the area but I'm hoping this summer to get to one or two with it. Weather has been crappy so I haven't had it out much this year.

I did as bucks77ford did and it took about 6 weeks. You will first be contacted by an initial rep who will verify the information then it is handed off to, likely, some research interns that actually go pull and print the info. I want to say that it took mine about 6 - 7 weeks to arrive.

What actually happens is Ford has to contact Marti to get the information.
Years ago Ford was going to destroy the info, Marti found out and made a deal to purchase the info from Ford. Marti is more into Mustangs than trucks so that was his main goal, preserve the Mustang info.
Ford no longer has any information on these vehicles. When the customer relations center receives a request for information they must contact Marti to get it. That's the main reason it takes so long to get it from Ford.

I didn't know that until you and Bill pointed that out. Makes sense. I guess the good thing is, if you want to wait and see if Ford can get you the info it's free. The free info if you go through Ford is equal to Marti's $15 standard report which will arrive via email in a couple days. I guess $15 is worth it since you know you'll get it and not keep waiting for Ford and then eventually not getting the right stuff or not even at all. It's a nice piece of history to keep with the truck and also to see what kinds of thing were original since many trucks have changed so much over the years. Mine hardly had anything original to it so it's cool to see what it once was.

When I got my report from Marti it confirmed that virtually nothing had been changed on mine since it was built.....that was then, now, when I finish the rebuild virtually nothing will be the same other than it's a '73 F100 Explorer.
