boost leak / gauge

Guys, if theres a boost leak, how will the "boost' register on the boost gauge. Will it be at zero, then hit hard, or can the gauge still read the "pressure" accuratly? After doing the work on my truck, not that i think i got a boost leak, just not "stoked" on how well the spider boots/plenums, t-clamps went on. The top ones, wanted to keep sliding down abit. Try'n to score on a 6.0 I.C., and just order up the boot kit from Clay.

Depending on how big the leak is, you still will get a reading on your boost gauge, but it will be lower than normal.. Build yourself a boost leak adapter and apply a max of 20 psi and listen for a leak.. see my picture gallery for a adapter made from a 4" plastic pipe end cap..

agreed the best way is with a tester or just try tighting all the clamps again.

What kind of boost are you making? Is it tuned? If not 15-17 psi is normal. If its bad like mine is with a DP I only see 18 psi max, when I should be seeing a lot more

If it reads zero then jumps up you could have a failing gauge. I had mine stick at 5psi then jump to 15psi then jump down to 5psi. Turns out it was the internals in the gauge. Just another thought...

I guess you got the turbo fixed? If your truck doesn't have any tunes 18 psi sounds about right.
