Strange snapping noise
This has been bugging me since I got the truck ('95 F150, 2WD) in about '97. Every once in a while, there is a loud snapping noise that sounds like a rock hitting the windshield. It happens while driving at normal speeds (30-35) around town. I've finally realized that its coming from beneath the right side of the dash. I've been in there several times for other issues, but have never noticed anything our of the ordinary. It happened today, for the first time in while, and that's when I realized that it never happens during the winter.
Could it be something in the air conditioning, like the vent door slamming?

Its a stretch, but its possible its that. Maybe a bushing on the front end that's worn and lets something smack around now and then.
Otherwise I suggest that maybe a squirrel made a home in your blower motor housing, and that sound is him cracking nuts for food.
