im gonna do my plugs, wires, cap and rotor within the next few days. should i look around for msd or other high performance parts? or just stick with motorcraft? also, what does it mean to "sidegap" the plugs?
I may be wrong, but I assume it means to make the gap on the side, not in the tip end...How, idk....Maybe use a screwdriver/pliers to pull the electrode L to the side.....Never did it...
oh wow awesome. that seems like an easy mod. i will be sure to do that when i buy the new plugs. does it make a significant difference on these motors?
Pretty much any MSD box/coil will work with a 300, fwiw.
You can also get some spark plug indexing washers to ensure the core/electrode gap is facing down towards the piston. Same principal as side-gapping, more or less.
MSD 6, Mallory HyFire 6a...but one of the better buys is a Summit Street and Strip. Performance wise they are all about the same. IIRC DS2 plugins can be had. GM HEI 4-pin module can be used too. Read through this: Loser Index But if this is for your '92 I don't know that any of that will work. The TFI ignition is entirely adequate.
