Plug Wires?

When doing my tuneup should I stick with motorcraft plug wires or are aftermarket just as good? I think iam going to stay with motorcraft plugs just to be safe. 2003 5.4 btw.

I get the ones with the lifetime warranty from parts america around $60.00 i think. They replaced the last set no questions asked when it started missing

The original motorcraft lasted for 80,000...the first set of aftermarket lasted about 30,000 before I had to change them again.

My dealer here in Pennsylvania wants $161.00 for plug wire set. They can keep them...autozone has a set of wires for $71.oo and they have a lifetime warranty on them.

Hope this answers your question

Motorcraft or Autolite only for me. I just put Autolites on mine and am very pleased so far.

Your truck does not have spark plug wires. All 5.4L trucks have COPs(Coil On Plug). Just use Motorcraft spark plugs. This is an excellent thread on changing plugs. Good luck!

I went with ford racing plugs from summit racing (on the web). They were cheaper on this upgraded motorcraft part than the standard motorcraft part at the LAPS... I originally replaced them with unknown aftermarket and the plug boot to wire interface was weak causing misfire after 20k miles. Definitely stick with motorcraft on this one.

I noticed that summit racing has the msd brand for $110 that may be something to look at? They also have different motorcraft plugs to choose from.

Reread KRMan02's post before you spend $110 on wires.

Sounds like a good deal. The point is though that jonrob doesn't have or need spark plug wires for his 03 5.4L F-150 since it doesn't have them.

Pretty sure 97's introduced FORD's "coil-on-plug" design 5.4 & know for a fact '98 & up are COP. FORD advertised this "eliminates spark plug wires".
