Surge leads me to believe its the oil cooler? Please help
I have been trouble shooting my brothers truck the last two days because of rpm surge. I checked the icp sensor, ebp sensor, and vgt soleniod. The surge happened with both the icp and ebp unplugged. After driving i heard the fan kick into high and pulled some codes when i got home and oil temp sensor i believe P0146 was pulled. Could a clogged oil cooler be setting my fan off cause the truck to de-fuel (surging) because oil temp is to hot? Or could i be having a oil temp sensor problem and a sperate surging issue. I am running out of ideas please help. The truck is an 04 straight piped with an cobbs egr delete...thank you

Truck has a sct tuner but, no tune loaded currently in the truck been running stock from about a week before it happened.
ICP is on the passsanger valve cover
EGR is deleted Cobbs diesel kit, done back in early january. Did it cause the truck would smoke an aweful lot, doing it certainly cleared it up.
Oil changed every 6,000 and fuel filters every 10k. Running amsoil 15w-40 hd diesel.
Code reader actron- P0198 engine oil temp circuit high input
Thanks Bismic, i am keeping it off the road until i can figure this out do not want to risk anything catastrophic

Thanks for the help. I check the sensor when i got home from work and it turns out one wire on it is loose. When i took the clip off the wire fell right out. Also the truck kept throwing the code when it was cold. I am going to replace the plug. I take it i can just get a new one and splice it in?
