ICP Replacement

I know this is like posting a thread on how to screw in a light bulb, but I did a search and there was a few threads with questions on how to do it. I just did mine and took a few pictures to hopefully help someone out that might need it.

It is located on the driver's side head in cylinder port #2.

Close Up...

I started by stuffing a rag under the sensor to catch any oil that may come out and more importantly catch the rubber boot on the plug that sometimes falls off. Mine did not.

Unplug the sensor and clean the oil off it with some electrical cleaner.

Move it out of the way and have the new sensor ready to go. I wiped a little fresh oil on the new o-ring.

Remove the old sensor, mine was 1 1/6" wrench. Have heard there are different sizes out there so yours may differ.

Install new sensor and tighten down, reconnect the plug and your back in business!

I cleaned out the oil in the old one and you can see where the oil was pushing past the pins.

And of course no job is complete without a little coffee from the $2000 dollar coffee mug! (told my wife you had to spent 2 grand to get a mug and it was the only way you could get it!!!(I don't think she bought the story))

Hope this helps somebody in the future....

Nice post and pics Mike.

If the 2 grand story were true then someone would owe me a mug.
Maybe even a mug and a half.

Looks like it is time to clean the battery posts and apply some Noalox!

Thank-you for the write up and Pictures Mike.
Question?

When the ICP is going out and leaking oil.....
What kind of 'bad' things happen to your truck?

ie. What is the ICP For and what goes wrong when it an't right.

(Yes, I can 'look it up', but while we are on the subject this is a good learning moment for many who see this thread and just don't know)

Here is a link to a discussion that we had a couple of days ago. It shows the relationship between the ICP, PCM and IPR
ICP Discussion

Thanks to Payson and Conkster for their input!!
