How rare is this?
It adjust from inside the truck buy a little **** hooked to 3 cables, I was mistaken, I thought it came on my 78 but it didn't, it came on my friends 75 F100 ranger, annnd another guy I know has a 74 F100 ranger that has one on it.
Pics:
The adjuster that mounts on the inside of the drivers side door
And just so no one can say its not a ford part or its aftermarket
Welp there it is
I was wondering if you were going to post some pics of the mirror I was reading about in your other thread I don't know how rare it is but I'd say its fairly rare I've never seen or come across one in these year trucks before was this a for sure option on these trucks?
These were optional and not very common. Most opted for the larger truck mirrors while these were basically passenger car mirrors

Well my friend is parking his 75 that it came off of, I may try to get that door from him and since they seem so few and far between, I may put'em on my 78... I just don't wanna drill a hole in a good door to mount it...

I've looked all over this mirror and I can't find that part # on it...

Ford hasn't put part numbers on their parts since the early '50's The numbers you see are either casting numbers (PT 15-2214) or engineering numbers (C9TB-17683-B) not part numbers.
The part number for the mirror and installation kit is D3TZ-17696-K, just the mirror head by itself is listed as being unavailable, and the mirror assy. without the installation kit has no part number, just a blank in the catalog.
D3TZ-17696-K (replaced C9TZ-17682-A) .. Left Hand Remote Mirror / Marked: C9TB-17683-B or C9TB-17683-C / Obsolete
Original Applications: 1969/79 F100/350 & 1969/77 Bronco.
No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.
----------------------------------------------- D3TZ-17696-L .. Right Hand ManualControl Companion Mirror to D3TZ-17696-K / Obsolete
Original applications: 1973/79 F100/350 & 1973/77 Bronco.
GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has FIVE = 800-543-4959.
----------------------------------------------------------- raytasch:Hooded remote mirrors such as the above were introduced in Passenger Cars, but are not listed for F100/350's & Bronco's due to the Passenger Cars (myriad) cable lengths.
However, there are manual control left hand mirrors that were the same as cars & trucks. Both hooded and non hooded mirrors were available.
The non hooded mirror (C7AZ-17696-A **) has been reproduced, some of the repop sellers are calling it by the (IMO) ridiculous name: "Sport Mirror."
This was the very same mirror that was standard equipment (left hand only) on many 1967/79 Passenger Cars, every 1967/77 Bronco and 1967/79 F100/350 (except 1973/76 F350 S/CS's).
But none were factory installed, were placed inside the cab at final assembly. The dealers installed all the outside mirrors.
Back then almost no one wanted it, and because of this, dealers had gazillions in stock. Most were thrown away...including by yours truely.
** Carpenter has this same mirror listed in his catalogs under C7TZ-17696-M but this is another one of DC's phony-baloney made up part numbers, because there was no such thing.
NumberDummy, really hoping you can help me out... I have a mirror stamped with C9TB-17683-B. What I am in need of is the gasket/mirror pad for installation. One came with my mirror, but the rear portion had been ripped off. The number on that gasket/pad was C9TB-17C701-A. I've heard from other owners who have a gasket with the number C9TB-17C701-B that would work also.
Where can I find one? I purchased one that I thought would work, but it ended up being too short (6 3/4"). The base of my mirror is over 7 inches long.
I'm trying to track down what dennis-carpenter or drake repro is the right one/size. Any thoughts?
