Tailgate

I know the bodystyles changed a little from in 1992, but will a 1991 f250 tailgate fit on a 1996 f350 and look right with the body lines?

IIRC I think the tail gates back to 87s are the same as the OBS gates. I could very well be wrong so make sure you get another consult. Good luck and let me know what you find out.

I havde a brand new in the box 86 gate. I tried to put it on my 97, and it fit but the bed top sides didnt match up. I believe 86-87 gates are the same...I think.

I read somewhere that 87 to 97 fits. I was looking for a gate a few weeks ago.

1980 to 1986 same, 1987 to 1991 same, 1992 to 1997 HD same. Minor diff in each "generation" change but will physically mount up. Some hardware may be different and body lines may be different as prev stated by Krisx125.

Brain is right. '87-97 will fit.

My '95 has a bed from a '87 F150 on it, matches perfect, and the tailgate is from a unknown year (probably mid 90's)

80 to 86 have a recessed panel w/ FORD lettering pushing out of the panel, 87 to 91 have a flat panel w/ FORD recessed into the panel, 92 to 97 early ones are like 87-91 others are flat and they also have an optional aluminum panel mounted to the tail gate.

Thansk for the good run down of the differences between the years. Sadly the guy sold the truck before I could get there, which s*cks. I'll jsut have to keep my eye out for another one.
