What problems are you having with the truck? It may not be a valve job that you need.

well, long story, but its being repaired now all new valves put in due to it sitting for a long while. Mechanic tried other methods to unstick to no avail. Just wondered what it would cost...

I just saw a post in here the other day about a user putting a truck back on the road that had been sitting for 10 years.

Again... what's wrong with the truck?

The truck had been sitting for many untold years and was started occasionally I was told.

Well I bought based on it running good per the p/o. When I went to pick it up it wouldnt start and his mechanic got it running...but it was running rough I soon learned.

Took it back to the mechanic and has had it since (3 months). He first said bad gas had tarnished the valves and the result was a couple cylinders not firing tried a long soak to unstick and didnt work.

Then pulled off the intake and valve cover and manually pulled on the valves to get loose.

Said was fixed. Drove away and soon a day later started missing again.

Took it back and he said the only way to really fix was to pull head and replace the valves.

Now truck sits with head off...I am awaiting the result. Have been w/o vehicle for over 3 months now.

The reason for my patience is that I am not footing the bill. The p/o is paying for it.

In hindsight I should have taken to someone else but I dont think the p/o would have paid for it that way.

Soooo, just wondering how much money I am saving or losing or whatever.

AND of course any comments as to how to fix it.

Much appreciated.
Kevin

Can you visually see damage on the valve face and valve seats?
You may get away with using lapping compound.

Quickly searched video... How to lap valves | Wonder How To
