Well yesterday i was working on my truck and accidentally doped a crowbar on the battery terminals( making contact with both). After that i drove the truck and immediately noticed that while i was driving my ABS brake light came on, O/D blinking, and my speedometer would jump from 0 - 110, my guage was showing that my RPM's were too high.
When the speedometer was making its way to 110 my engine was working but then when it began to drop down to 0 again my engine would immediately seem to stop working, My gas pedal never moved, it was as if my engine was kicking in and out with the speedometer causing a somewhat jerking motion.
Then if i turn my headlight on i cant use my turn signals, headlights seem extremely dim, but then my speedometer stops working and drops to 0.
If you haven't already, I'd try disconnecting the battery and leaving it disconnected for 10 minutes or so, then reconnect and see if at least a few of the items work more normally. Since you are getting a P0500 code from the ECU it seems likely that the ECU isn't horribly damaged.
