Best Slide-In Camper ?

HI.

Just wondering which slide-in camper fits and looks best on these old trucks? I have a '79 longbed 3/4-ton, 400CID w/ CA emissions on all original truck. SWMBO's requirement is toilet. I want to be able to remove and store the thing on level surface by myself if possible, with SWMBO participation if necessary. Any ideas?

I have an Alaska hard side pop up. It is small and perfect for me sleeps two has a kitchen but no potty. I like the size I really can't tell it's on when driving it is perfect for boon docking . Here is a thread with it in it. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-a-camper.html

I had a 79 jayco popup camper. Was clean too picked it up for 600 sold it for 200. I was dumb to sell it. Tho not having a truck to haul it was a big problem. Lol no bathroom on it either. But for my truck I want the slide in camper as well. They come with legs so you can put them down and move the truck. Keep us posted in what you find and Google pic and see what you come up with.

I prefer the vintage slide-in campers. The first picture is my 79 original 11' Mitchell camper at 3000 pounds. The second picture is my 78 original 11'
Great Divide camper at 2000 pounds.

Boy, I really like the look of that vintage camper on your 74, but 3,000 pounds I dunno!!! Great looking setup though, congrats!

Since you mentioned storing the camper, I would like to make a storage product recommendation for you: the Torklift International Camper Packer. We make quite a few other products for truck campers too.

Happy Camping,

A note for the cabover camper use

While googling images for another thread about screw holes in a door jamb where I mentioned struts for a camper, I could hardly find any images of campers with the struts I am talking about. Now, when I was a kid, we had a 72 F250 Camper Special with a Coachmen slide in that did have struts. My grandfather and uncle both had GM pickup/campers that did not start out with struts until after everybody compared the ride with and without the struts. Viola, everybody soon had struts. Having said all that, the first image I found with a strut was an installation of struts on a modern truck and camper.

Best Slide in for a dent side??

Find a Starcraft.....they were made for these trucks. Admittedly hard to find and heavy at 3000lbs(dry) but they do have a bathroom/shower.
