1979 camper special badges

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and the proud owner of a 1979 F350 Custom, Camper Special.

The Truck does not have any of the Camper Special badges, however I am 99.9% sure that it is a true Camper Special. The wheel base is 140", it has the box side spare tire, and the wire harness under the dash and at the rear bumper. It also has the overload springs and rear sway bar (All appear to be factory). It is a 2wd, powered by a 460 and C6, according to the owners manual in the glove box, the 140" WB came with 4.10 gears and it sure feels like it when you drive it, it also has a limited slip and only 84,000 origional miles.

I would like to find some Camper Special badges for it, but I have no idea what they should look like or where they would have been placed. It appears to me that the truck may have been fixed a time or two and the fenders may have been replaced and the badges were not.

I have found some Camper Special badges on Ebay, but I'm not sure they are the right style. Any suggestions on where to look? Perhaps some pictures are floating around that might help?

thanks in advance for any help!
Mike

Welcome to FTE

140" wheelbase: 1973/76 F350 Super Camper Special / 1973/79 F350 Regular Cab Trailer Special / 1977/79 F350 Regular Cab Camper Special.

Ford dropped 'Super' from the name after 1976 / The Trailer Special emblem mounted on the tailgate.

Is this a Camper Special or a Trailer Special? You can get a copy of your trucks original build sheet from martiauto.com for a fee.

Ford used to provide the build sheet for free, but recently began charging it. IMO, might as well get it from Marti, as he has ALL the original 1967/79 FoMoCo records.

Marti can also provide a copy of your trucks original window sticker, and etc.

D7TZ-16720-AD .. "Camper Special" Emblem-Right/Left is the same / Obsolete / AFAIK, not reproduced.

Applications: All 1977/79 Camper Special's.

TOM HILLER FORD in Escalon CA has 1 = 209-838-3535.

KINSEL L/M in Beaumont TX has 1 = 800-816-2894.

MILLER OBSOLETE PARTS in Binghamton NY has 3 = 607-722-5371.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 13 = 800-543-4959.

Not to sound like a retard, but if i'm reading this right ... if I find one that says "camper special" it should be the right one?

Where do they mount on the fenders?

If I post a pic can someone photoshop the right spot? maybe a better pic floating out there somewhere?

thanks!
Mike

sorry .... for some reason i only got part of your message.

i was told by the guy i bought it from it was a camper special. i have never seen one before, nor have i seen a trailer special, so i really have no basis for comparison.

i may contact marti and get a build sheet and window sticker.

Kinda sucks i bought this to use it as a farm truck, but i like it so much i may have to fix it up and bring it back to it's origional glory.

thanks for all the help!

So what else is new? When my brain kicks in, I edit in more info, and edited in the sources that have this emblem NOS.

The 1977/79 Camper Special emblem is rectangular, has CAMPER within the rectangle above, SPECIAL in italics below CAMPER.

Were these emblems originally red or orange in color? I've seen both.
