From everything I have read, I don't think they can create a unique PATS key - they can only duplicate an existing (already programmed into the PATS) key. Thus you still wouldn't be able to create your own keys.

On my 2010 f250, I think that there is a simple solution to your problem. If you remove the fuse box cover on the passenger side below the glove box, then remove the cover on the passenger side door jamb at the same level and then the cover that is left where the fuse box was, The 5 digit key code should be on a white sticker on the back side of the printed circuit panel that will be exposed. There are two self tapping 7mm hex screws that hold the panel in place.. You can carefully pull the panel out far enough to look behind it with a mirror.
