Does anyone know what would cause moisture in engine oil? I was having my oil changed which I do every 5000 miles with synthetic. Guy showed me my oil filler cap and it was white. Said it was moisture. I usually always drive at least 35 miles at a time so it's not due to short trips.
Check your cooling system for oil residue. That would indicate a head gasket leak. Also look at your spark plugs and see if you're getting any moisture or rust on them.
Make sure your crankcase is venting properly also.
I get that too, only in the winter. It is pretty common. Of course I do take a lot of short trips each day in the winter and the truck doesn't get warmed up properly. My wife's Liberty had the same thing when I changed it after the winter. I just wipe it off real good and clean out the filler tube.
You know, condensation doesn't know you spent extra money on synthetic oil. It still gets in there. It is surprising though that you are getting that with 35 mile trips one way. Are these trips on the hiway or stop and go? Does the temperature guage show normal? Could be a bad thermostat.
Water temp seems normal. A couple people told me to change the PCV Valve. I'm also having a rough idle especially when it's cold. Heard that may be related to PCV valve as well.
