I am sorry for bringing this subject up again but I am a little confused about something. My cmp went out and I had it replaced with serial number 1821720c99, bought from husky international and that is the same number as what I removed from the truck. Now looking at some of the cmp threads here people are using only the numbers 1825899-c99 or c93 depending on the engine serial number with no mention of the one I just put in my truck. I have a 97 f-250 which calls for the 1821720. Can anyone help me decipher if I really did put the right one in. I cant find the engine ser num on my truck yet to use that reference so if someone knows an answer I would appreicate it.

Tim- If you're interested in finding your engine serial number, one of the two places that it can be found is right next to the oil filter. It's stamped into the block there. (I don't remember the other place.)

Tim- here's a little more information from a more qualified source than I:

Quadzilla -- It sounds like your friend got the correct part number for his truck; the new part number matches the old one.
Although the C99 suffix is generally for the '94 1/2, '95, & '96 model years and the C93 is generally for the '97 model years. The only real difference is the C99 suffix has tin terminals and the C93 suffix has gold terminals.
Cheers from Tulsa, OK!

Quadzilla -- Here is probably more information than you ever wanted to know about CPS (CMP) part numbers... From the 7.3L DIT Anthology:
Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP)
* The CMP sensor has also been changed to incorporate gold plated pins. There has also been changes in length and circuitry since 1994. To identify each CMP sensor there is a part number suffix located on the top of the sensor near the sensor wiring connector. The CMP with a part number suffix of C96 is 1.152" ± 0.006" in length and has tin pins, this sensor was used in engines with serial number between 000501 and 033780. A C96 sensor should not be installed as a replacement sensor. The sensor with a C97 suffix is tin plated and 1.152" ± 0.006" in length. This sensor has improved circuitry over the C96 sensor. The C98 sensor is identical to the C97 except for the length, it is 1.142" ± 0.004" in length.
* Due to the change in wiring harnesses three new sensors were made with gold pins. The C91 sensor is 1.152" ± 0.006" in length, which was used in engine serial numbers 375549 through 408253, and the C92 is 1.142" ± 0.004" in length, which was used in engine serial numbers 408253 through 623916. A sensor with a part number suffix of C93 has gold pins and a length of 1.142" ± 0.004", this sensor has improved ricuitry over the C91 and C92 sensors. The C93 sensor is being used as of engine serial number 623916.
* The camshaft position sensor circuitry has been updated to be less sensitive of clearance to the trigger wheel.
* The part number suffix for the gold pated sensor is C93 and C99 for the tin plated sensor.

We have a 2002 e450, and were wondering where the little bugger is locatated on the engine. Can anyone help me out here?
We thought about taking it in but we figured we could do it faster and cheaper with the time spent.
