Workshop Manual F350
I have just come over to the USA from England, we hope to do a little touring here with our 5th Wheel and a 1990 F350 XLT Diesel Full Cab
Truck. As I don't know much about American Trucks I want to try and
obtain a Workshop Manual so I can attend to a few jobs myself, Plus I have quite a few things that I need to know about on the Truck.
For an example under the Hood which we call the Bonnet there's two
electric items attached to the inner skin I am not sure what they are
can anyone help with that, also I have the Nearside Front door Electric locking item that doesn't work very well can these be obtained, and I have the same door Electric window winder that operates but does take the window down can that be obtained, the windshield washer container is missing, and I can't seem to find a wire floating around anywhere that would connect to that.
Apart from that its in excellent condition, its done 98,000 miles
is that high, what are good for.
Seems alot here to answer but I'm lost as to who to ask about these things, so any help I can get would be great.
All the parts you need are available - the F-Series truck is among the most popular vehicles in the world, so parts are readily available and generally easy to replace. A door lock motor is about $50 aftermarket and a window motor is about $90 remanufactured - both can be had at any parts store and are universal to all full-size Ford products built around the time your truck was.
The windshield spray reservoir is usually integrated with the coolant overflow tank, so it sounds like BOTH are missing. Follow the small rubber hose from the spray nozzle at the center of the windshield (usually thru the L fender to the front of the engine compartment) and it should lead you to where the reservoirs are. There's another similar hose coming off the radiator filler neck that should go to the bottom of the coolant reservoir.
If you could describe the 2 electric items under the hood, I'm sure someone can ID them. The Haynes manual will, also - the wiring diagrams in the back are excellent.
100Kmi in 12 years is slightly low, and that engine is known to commonly go over 350Kmi with regular maintenance before needing to be rebuilt or replaced.
The items attached to the underside of the hood, have electric feed in one is situated looking at the open hood on the righthand side at the bottom and looks like a connection box with a plug which has a harness going to another plastic box at the top /center of the hood.
at first I thought it was a under hood light but I can not see any provision for a bulb holder on it.
The Washer container was situated in the front of the Radiator bottle which is still there and working fine, it would appear that the washer container is bolted on in front of the radiator container,
I have followed the nipple that sprays water on the screen, that just comes to an end with nothing on the end.
I have enquired at a Ford dealers and he showed me a picture of the washer bottle with a pump situated in the bottom of it, he said the container was $45 but he wasn't sure if that included the motor pump,
I am a little concerned as to where the Electic feed from the Wiper switch to the washer has gone.
One other item which most probaly can't be put right is the lock on the Radio is working but for some reason it can't be seen as it appears not to light up, although the radio back ground lights work.
You should have no trouble finding a washer reservoir at a junkyard with the motor for less than $45 - when you pull it, you'll be able to locate the connector on the donor truck and find yours.
The clock is integrated into the radio, so if the fluorescent display isn't working, you're better off simply replacing the radio with a good aftermarket one. It'll have more features & cost less than repairing the original. Buy a wiring harness adapter and you won't have to cut any of the truck's wires.
I can not belive the help I have got with my problems, its a really nice place to be when you have some problems knowing that there's someone out there to help. I really Appreciate your Help!
one last question for now what should I get to the Gallon from my
F350, I'm not a speed merchant those days have gone.
Just drawn a blank on the Haynes Workshop Manual they say they do not print a Manual for that model, I tried Chiltons they say the same thing ? or that they are out of stock.
Wonder if Fords sell a Manual for this model trouble is that will most probally cost a fortune?

There seems to be a conflicting point of view as to how long the fuel filter should last, I partly understand that the light comes on when there is an overload of water in the filter, does this mean the water is drained off or should the filter be changed at the that time.
Another question I would like answered if possible is:
Starting in the cold, mine has not got the heater in the block, and
I understand that makes it difficult to start, I have just fitted 8 new Glow Plugs, when I go to start I wait for the light to go out, I
then hear clicking, should you attempt to start at that point or after the clicking has stopped, also should you use any throttle
any any point to assist starting?.
I find it seems to fire only when I have about half throttle.
After two attempts of about 15 to 20 seconds, I turn the key off
and try again it seems to start after another few seconds, with half throttle, when it does it really smokes on starting, does this all sound right?
Get a diesel owner's manual from the dealer for the service interval & procedure on the fuel filter.
