where can i get new lines, the main line that feeds the IP snapped on the highway can i buy new ones anywhere or are they the sort of thing you can only pull off other trucks? or can i used something else like a soft line to replace it.
The line from the filter to the IP?
That line is low pressure. Rubber fuel hose will be fine.
If you need one in a hurry, stop by the house...I got one in my spare parts bin.
If your metal line hasn't broke at the ends, you could cut off like 4" on each end, use a brake line flaring tool, then slip the fuel hose over each end with a hose clamp. That's how my other engine is setup.
great i thought that was low pressure, i'll probably just use the rubber hose then. i'll tell you how it goes
It was scary seeing fuel smoking off my exhaust manifold thought it was gonna catch on fire.
I just was reading last night or 2 nights ago that Diesel doens't exactly like standard gasoline fuel hose. Apparently, there's a difference between Hydraulic line which diesel works in and the standard fuel hose.
Of course, standard fuel hose will work fine until you can find some sort hydraulic fuel hose?
Maybe somebody will chime in about the differences...if not, I'm looking for that thread now
Hmm....I would think it's too small. The inner diameter of the metal line is pretty big compared to the returns.
You've got a lot of fuel entering the IP. A lot of it is going thru the injectors and burnt, and the small diameter return lines can handle the leftover fuel.
I've had regular old fuel line patched into mine along the frame for 3 years and haven't had any problems with it. Can't remember where I got it, but Napa does have some good Gates fuel line.
I know that bio-diesel will eat through regular fuel line, didn't think it was an issue with regular diesel though.
yeah i know if you go bio you have to switch lines but i never really knew if bio or regular was the same as gas, but i think tech god might be right, If all else fails i'll just run it with gas lines and have and extra few feet to fix it if it eats it up
